Isolation
What is it like to be separated, confined, restricted, trapped, both within a small space and within one’s own body. These images were taken during the COVID-19 pandemic and New York State mandated order for social distancing, but the images are also a study of the female form. The female form has long been a subject of artists - painters, photographers, and sculptors alike. While a woman’s body can be a source of inspiration and admiration, it has also been a source of complex social and political issues within our society. The female body has been over- sexualized, shamed, censored, controlled, creating all sorts issues for girls and women. It is with these things in mind, that I turned the camera on myself as I am living all of these realities in my body. This work serves to record this moment in my life’s history as well as tie in to the larger historical context of this pandemic.
